Roses in the Ocean
Roses in the Ocean' strives to:
- Raise significant public awareness of suicide and the mental illness crisis in our communities
- Provide Recovery Weekends for Carers of people with a mental illness
- Support organisations providing practical, hands on suicide prevention and intervention services
'Roses in the Ocean' has been established to drive the far too hidden issue of mental illness and suicide out into the open. Silence is not working. Open, frank discussions need to be had, the extent of the crisis needs acknowledgment. Only when people can unashamedly ask for help and be understood, will we stem the tide of suicide.
'Roses in the Ocean' is here to create change. With the World Health Organisation (WHO) estimating that by 2020 mental illness will be the second leading cause of death and disability, we have no choice, but to engage the whole community in suicide prevention through awareness, understanding and preventative action.
